Product Description
A reproduction bracket for repairing or restoring Hot Wheels Railroad cars. I'm calling this a steering bracket because it attaches to the top of the wheel truck's kingpin and holds one end of a thin plastic strip. This plastic strip runs the length of the car's interior and allows the wheel trucks end each end of the car to pivot in unison; thus "steering" the car when the train is run on a flat surface instead of the Hot Wheels plastic railroad track.
The original bracket appears to be glued to the top of the wheel truck's kingpin from the factory; meaning that you cannot remove the wheel truck from the chassis without breaking off the kingpin. With this reproduction part, you cut away the original bracket to remove the wheel truck from the chassis. And then reattach the wheel truck by gluing on this replacement part.
