I was sick of the hard black plastic knobs that come standard with these cookers breaking (usually when I was in the middle of nowhere !!). These knobs are designed to be printed in "strong and flexible" plastic AND require "potting" or filling with a 2 part glue (I use Araldite Epoxy Glue - see left hand inset photo) to make them very robust. I use a cast iron plate on my cooker and the knobs get fairly warm but keep working perfectly.
Use a small, flat blade screwdriver to clean the inside of the "shaft" hole before pressing it on. I colour in the lettering and arrow with a "uni-ball eye - fine" permanent marker made by Mitsubishi Pencil Company.
PLEASE NOTE: You can buy the Gasmate brand knobs as spare parts - but they are made from the same brittle plastic as the originals.
