GWR 7' Collett Bogie HORNBY Fit.
00 Gauge, 1:76, 4mm/Foot
This is a replacement for the bogies, originallt fitted to the first generation Hornby Collett 57' coaches first introduced by in the 1980s. Although later versions of the model were fitted with a correct 7' Collett pattern bogie, the originals had bogies based on British Railways Mk 1 coaches and were therefore incorrect.
This model represents the Great Western Collett 7' type which were fitted to the Corridor Composit (Diagram E127), Brake Third (Diagram D95) and resurant Car ( Diagram H33). The boss is also set off centr to make allowances for the shorter wheelbase tan the Mk1 bogie. However, unlike the original bogies, these are fitted with NEM coupling pockets to allow customers a wider choice of couplings.*
This print has been designed to use HORNBY R8098 12.5 mm disc wheels to prevent the flanges rubbing on the underside of the wagon body.
On some prints I have found that the NEM socket is a very tight fit so I would recommend that they are cleaned out with a fine sharp object (pin) to ensure there is no dust from the manufacturing process. In addition, you may need to flex the sides a little when fitting the wheels to ensure smooth running.
* This product was designed for use with the Hornby R8268 and R8276, large and medium width couplings and will also work with the R8219 Hornby NEM coupling. However it will not work with the R8220 Hornby NEM pocket close coupling. This bogie has not been tested using Kadee or any other type of coupling.
